Description

Dense, concentrated and elaborate but elegant. Aromas of ripe blackberries and black cherries, with a spicy character. Notes of leather and smoke fill the nose. Silky yet robust in the mouth framed by delicate tannins. A balanced acidity offers flavours of ripe fruit, cloves and black pepper. A very long aftertaste with great complexity.

A superb medium bodied wine with notes of dark berry and spice. Aged in French barriques for 12 months and a further 6 months in the bottle. Pairs well with roasts and spicy foods.

The story of Domaine Skouras started in 1986, with an emblematic wine, Megas Oenos, which became synonymous with George Skouras. Back then, Megas Oenos was a pioneering blend of Agiorgitiko and Cabernet Sauvignon. Today, Megas Oenos is one of the wines with a consistent presence in the world of European wine, with a proven ageing ability, rivalled only by very few Greek wines.

Domaine Skouras is the vision of George Skouras. George graduated from the University of Dijon with a degree in oenology and a love of chardonnays, pinot noirs and the famous wine growers of that region. George went on to create a boutique winery in Nemea, which is the largest and possibly the most exciting Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) region for red wines in Greece.

The region of Nemea and the Argolida highlands is blessed viti-vinicultural land. Mantinia, another region renowned for the production of PDO white wines, is close by, while the surrounding areas have excellent terroirs, although not of PDO status. Domaine Skouras owns a number of very interesting vineyards scattered across each of these regions.

Domaine Skouras is now situated in the village of Malandreni, a few kilometres from Argos and close to the regions of Corinthia and Arcadia in the north eastern Peloponnese.
