Description
Halloumi is a traditional cheese from Cyprus that is made from a mixture of cow, sheep and goat’s milk. Like all other dairy products, halloumi is rich in calcium which is essential for the wellbeing of our bones and teeth. Also, due to its high levels of protein, halloumi cheese is a good substitute for meat, which is very important for vegetarians.
Our Odysea Halloumi Cheese is produced in Alambra village in Nicosia, Cyprus. The milk used comes from Cyprus and halloumi is made according to traditional Cypriot recipes. Halloumi is usually served grilled, barbecued or fried but can also be consumed raw. Halloumi is best enjoyed when cooked on a hot grilled pan and eaten while still warm. It can be served along with vegetables, meat, chicken and fish. A common desert recipe in Cyprus is to serve it with watermelon and mint salad. Halloumi can be topped with pomegranate molasses, sweet toppings like honey and date molasses, and spicier ones such as harissa meze.
