Have an Odysea Christmas

Holiday season is fast approaching, it’s a time for winter feasting and merry baking. Our favourite cooking at Christmas doesn’t come with a weight of expectation, it’s about the meals that are eaten with friends and family, running up to the big day and the end of the year. It is all about the cosy and intimate get-togethers where a selection of meze makes for glorious feasting.

Whether you are going to be entertaining for family, a large group of friends or just the two of you we have an exceptional selection of meze jars that you can pop open and get your party started. Some snappy canapes always work a treat, you can have a sneak pick below of what is on our table. We have also worked our molasses into exceptional cocktails to quench your thirst and keep feeding conversation for longer.

What’s on our table?

Salmon blinis with feta and yoghurt spread.

Blinis count as Christmas essentials but you don’t have to stay on the classic version. Give them a fresh touch and replace the classic soured cream with a dollop of feta and yogurt spread. It works particularly well with smoked salmon. Don’t forget to top off with fresh and fragrant dill.

Cucumber and kalamata olive tapenade bites, keeping it fresh

If you want simple and savoury these cucumber bites are just the thing.

You will only need five minutes to put them together: simply slice a cucumber in small rounds, spoon on a dollop of kalamata olives tapenade and top it off with Lilliput capers.

Babaganoush

Our smoked aubergine dip is really good on its own, but if you wish you can very swiftly give it an oriental touch: stir in 3 tablespoons of tahini, a spinkle of chilli flakes and a good squeeze of lemon Babaganoush in a jiffy, this is some real Christmas magic!

A soft, cream cheese roll with Cretan Mizithra

We have a soft spot for creamy cheese. Our savoury mizithra makes for the perfect Christmas log. Roll our soft amari cheese in nigella seeds and rest on a bed of salad. You can match it with crudités such as cucumber, carrots or peppery radishes.

Orange salad with pomegranate molasses

Do keep the salad going. Now that oranges are at their best, you can slice and serve to accompany your drinks or roasts. Our orange salad has a drizzle of pomegranate molasses, crunchy pistachios and refreshing mint.

What’s in our glasses

Pomegranate fiz

There is no festive get together without some bubbly. We splashed a drop of pomegranate molasses in our prosecco! It works wonders.

Mulled wine with a Greek twist

Greek Mavrodaphne, a sweet fortified wine makes an excellent choice for mulled wine. We added some grape molasses for natural sweetness and the usual festive spices: 1 cinnamon stick, 2 star anise, 2 cloves and a sliced orange. Warm it all up and serve in mugs.

Espresso & carob molasses martini

For an eye- catching, indulgent note an espresso martini can make all the difference. We added carob molasses for a chocolatey aftertaste and the rest is the good old classic:

  • 15 ml of carob molasses

  • Ice

Pour the vodka, coffee liqueur and espresso into a cocktail shaker, mix well and fill in your cocktail glasses.

Gin with date molasses

If you want something gloriously festive look no further: gin and date molasses cocktail by Harris Gerakis will blow your mind!
