The UK's only legally labelled RAW honey

We’re delighted to announce that Odysea is now the only honey in the UK that can legally be labelled as Raw!

Our award-winning honey came under fire from Trading Standards when they sought to ban the sale of Odysea honey as ‘raw’.

We’ve proudly sold our range of raw honey in the UK for more than 20 years and decided we had to defend it and our small team of producers in Greece, which meant taking the bold step to take our case to tribunal.

In February 2024, Judge Neville ruled in our favour, and our delicious honey can now carry its raw label with pride.

There has been a buzz about this historic tribunal, with press coverage in The Guardian, The Grocer, and Financial Times. You can read the judge’s full report in the link below which details his reasons for ruling in our favour, including his now famous reference to Winnie-the-Pooh.

New Chilled Dips

Dip into flavour with our new range of fresh Greek and Mediterranean dips which have launched exclusively into Sainsbury’s.

This trio of dips embody our food philosophy, which puts flavour and quality first. Sugar-salted cod’s roe shines in the Taramosalata, real Greek yoghurt is at the creamy heart of our Tzatziki, and Odysea’s own flame-roasted peppers and aubergine bring depth to the spicy Ajvar dip. Best served as part of a meze, with crudites, flatbreads or olives, these dips bring colour and flavour to every table. Nothing complicated, but completely delicious.

Our fresh Taramosalata, Tzatziki and Ajvar dips might just push houmous out of the limelight, as they capture the very best ingredients and tradition in a pot.

Great Taste Award -winning new balsamic vinegars

Pomegranate Balsamic Vinegar and Apple Balsamic Vinegar are an exciting addition to our condiment collection. Produced in the Lombardy region of Italy from 100% concentrated fruit juice, our new vinegars stand out for the balance of sweet and sharp flavours and bring an innovative addition to your pantry.

The juice from Golden and Red Delicious apples is matured for four to five years in oak barrels to create a sweet and fruity vinegar for a light salad dressing, to caramelise grilled meats and equally excellent over a goats cheese salad or with fresh strawberries. Pomegranate juice is aged for one year to create a distinctive ruby red vinegar with tart notes and subtle pomegranate sweetness, which can be used much like red wine or sherry vinegar.

Newest oil to the Odysea family: Early Harvest Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Our new oil is produced from hand-harvested ‘Megaritiki’ olives from groves in the Peloponnese region of mainland Greece. A low acidity olive oil, rich in antioxidant polyphenols and monounsaturated fats with a distinctive flavour of dry herbs and fresh green aromas.

Early Harvest olive oil is produced from olives that are picked at the very beginning of the season when they are green and unripe (between 20th October and 5th November to be precise!) Farmers gently rustle the olive trees with traditional hand-held poles to collect the olives in nets below; the olives are sorted by hand and the oil is extracted within hours of harvesting. These traditional methods may produce less oil but we think it’s worth it as they yield an oil of exceptional flavour; rich with concentrated polyphenols and abundant health benefits.

This is Greek goodness in a bottle.

Odysea & Maldon Salt’s Baked Feta with slow roasted tomatoes, peppers and pomegranate molasses

We’re celebrating late summer eating with our friends at Maldon Salt who’ve created this gorgeous autumnal take on the infamous TikTok trend for Baked Feta. The tangy, rich flavour of baked feta is perfect to share with friends now the evenings are getting cooler. This recipe also features our flame roasted red peppers which give a gentle, mellow sweetness to the slow baked feta. Pomegranate molasses bring it all together with it’s vibrant colour and add perfect sweet-sour notes to this savoury dish, in much the same way as a fine balsamic.

Odysea Kalamata PDO Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Our Kalamata extra virgin olive oil is produced with polyphenol-rich Koroneiki olives grown in the Kalamata region of Greece (not with Kalamata olives, which is a common misconception!) this region is acclaimed for the production of superior quality olive oil and has been awarded PDO status.

Kalamata is in the southernmost peninsula of mainland Greece and the area provides an ideal climate for the cultivation of olives, with mild winters, long hot summers and moderate wind.

This oil has a gentle fruity flavour and aromas of meadowsweet herbs with a lovely peppery finish making it great for all-round use and perfect for dressings and dipping.

Alexandros, our raw honey producer

Odysea honey is produced in the village of Ilias in central Greece by artisan bee-keeper Alexandros Gousiaris. Alexandros lovingly tends his bees ensuring they are protected in winter and moved to the Greek mountains or islands in the summer where herbs, wild flowers & conifers grow in abundance.

'Bees help rooted plants on their journey, plants nourish the bees and so the pollination cycle continues.
We will always work with the utmost admiration of our bees and their sweet honey' Alexandros
